Pattaya City is located on the east gulf of Thailand and is a self-governing municipal area which covers Nong Prue, Na Kluea, and parts of Huai Yai and Nong Pla Lai. The city itself is located in the heavily industrial Eastern Seaboard along with Si Racha, Laem Chabang, and Chonburi. The total population of the area is well over 1,000,000 and growing.

problemThe Problem

The City of Pattaya was using mainly Area Traffic Control starting in 2004, but due to both an increase in vehicular incidents and a city-wide mandate for CCTV in designated areas, the City of Pattaya began expansion of the system in 2010. The existing cameras were lower resolution analog cameras and were only covering a very small area. With a growing population and nearly 500,000 of those being non-registered population, there was a growing need for added security on streets, especially in high-traffic areas. With traffic accidents happening daily, the City of Pattaya needed a high-resolution camera to be able to identify facial features and license plates

objectivecsObjective

The overall objective of this project was to protect the many people using the roads on a daily basis. With hundreds of students walking to and from school using the main roads, their safety was a grave concern. e City of Pattaya issued a mandate that CCTV be used outside on traffic lights, street lamps, and in major intersections. With a growing population, and a growing number of tourists every year, the City of Pattaya needed a better way to capture what was happening on their roads with 24/7 monitoring and the ability to capture important detail.

Sentry360 cameras were chosen out of a large batch of outdoor IP security cameras to cover all traffic and hazardous areas. Currently there are nearly 1,000 cameras installed with plans to install more in 2015. While still utilizing their Air Traffic Control, these Sentry360 cameras save the city time and money by recording 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing necessary evidence to give to the police. Jakkrit Pontpai of Point IT Consulting stated, “We needed a reliable camera that would also be able to capture the information we needed. ere have been drunk driving arrests, hit-and-run arrests and a signi?cant drop in crime, that were all video-assisted.”
